Review of In the Heat of the Night (1967) by Afua P — 22 Jan 2008
Poitier is at his dignified best in this film as the black eastern outsider in a prejudiced southern town. Whilst Rod Steiger is just as good as the lonely sheriff that eventually overcomes his prejudices to work with Virgil.
Greatly satirises Southern attitudes and prejudice in general.
