Review of Images (1972) by Andrey B — 10 Nov 2018
An astonishingly well-photographed film with amazing autumn bleak scenery, landscapes of enormous beauty. Equally worthy of praise is the work by Susannah York in portraying a woman with split identity.
For me there's no point in trying to decipher what was going on on the screen, the mind of an ill person is always a mystery, but in following her descend into the madness we learn one thing or two about her, about her personality, about anxieties, hidden desires, about her childhood - it's akin to the puzzle the little girl (was it her?) is trying to assemble.
The end product is a fascinating movie, which absolutely hasn't aged and looks disturbing and at times terrifying.
