Review of I Am Trying to Break Your Heart: A Film About Wilco (2002) by Cli O — 01 Nov 2008
I might be a little biased about this because Wilco is my favorite band in existence, but I absolutely love this documentary. It covers the creation of their masterpiece Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and the problems with their record label afterwards.
A true story about creativity vs. commerce. Shot in a gorgeous black-and-white and filled with tons of great Wilco tunes, many of which were recorded live during practice sessions, this is one that no fan of the band should miss.
And possibly one that nobody else should miss, either.
