Review of I Am Divine (2014) by Eric H — 22 Sep 2014
A sympathetic biography of Harris Glenn Milstead, aka Divine. This documentary humanizes Divine and puts her after midnight cult heroine status into perspective. A bullied Baltimore child in the 1960's ( with all its sex, drugs and Rock 'n Roll ) she bonded with John Waters and a group of young avant garde rebels.
Through sheer force of will, brashness and talent, she made herself the worldwide phenomenon known as Divine.
