Review of Humpday (2009) by Jonathon M — 27 Jul 2009
Humpday concerns what amounts to a game of "gay chicken," two friends that have no interest in having sex with each other but want to seem open minded and free spirited. It is honestly one of the most natural movies I've ever seen, with every line and mannerism delivered by the two leads coming across with so verisimilitude that the movie seems as though the film is a documentary rather than a work of fiction.
The movie deals with its tricky theme in the most delicate, thought provoking way possible: By removing the taboo from gay sex, but rather making the movie about the lengths friends will go for each other or for themselves.
It's a movie concerned with pushing boundaries that brilliantly advocates restraint in love.
