Review of Howl (2010) by Lauri L — 27 Mar 2011
I was a bit worried after reading couple of finnish review of this movie giving it three stars. My main concern was that director didn't get the balance right. I was afraid it was poking a little bit here and little bit there and never nailing it.
But I was absolutely wrong: the focus in on the Howl - the poem itself and once the main focus is clear it goes around and looks at it through the voices of the contemporary critics of its time, through animation that is as free in form as is the poem itself and through the interviews of Allen Ginsberg himself I believe.
James Franco does phenomenal work. I strongly advice everyone looking for free spirit to see this one.
