Review of House of Whipcord (1974) by Tristan P — 28 Jul 2008
Arguably the least of Pete Walker's three classic horror films (the other two being FRIGHTMARE and SCHIZO) this is paradoxically the best written and directed of the three, but it replaces the brutality of the other two with a twisted gallows humour.
I've heard the humour in the film described as "Pythonesque", but nobody would call it that if this were an American film. It's a dark, smart British horror film, highly recommended.
