Review of Hotel Chevalier (2007) by Doug F — 06 Nov 2007
A lovely, heartbreaking short film that precedes "The Darjeeling Limited" and manages to pack more genuine human emotion in its brief running time than the entire 90-minute main feature that follows it.
Schwartzman and Portman have good chemistry together as a couple in a tense, unhappy relationship and this prologue adds more depth and insight to Schwartman's character and explains Portman's brief cameo near the end of the movie.
Sometimes shorter is better.
