Review of Hollywood Boulevard (1976) by Shawn W — 29 Mar 2010
Exploitation Kingpin, Roger Corman gave co-director Joe Dante (The Howling, Gremlins, The â??burbs) his big break with this spoof on B movie filmmaking. Using sets from previous Corman classics like Big Bad Mama and Death Race 2000, Hollywood Boulevard features lots of gratuitous nudity, senseless death, and a delightful performance from Dick Miller as slimy go-getter Walter Paisley (same name and character from Buckets of Blood?).
Look for cameos from Forest J Ackerman, Jonathan Demme, Godzilla, and Robbie the Robot. Not genius, but good Corman fun. VF.
