Review of Hollidaysburg (2014) by Nate Z — 23 Mar 2015
Not that we needed another coming-of-age film for prolonged adolescents, but if we had to have one, Hollidaysburg isn't a bad one to find. Director Anna Martemucci makes the most of her cast to build an entertaining tale that makes you feel like these people are your old friends that you're visiting for about 90 minutes.
The chemistry between the characters is palpable on screen, and you can really sense the history in each of the performances. Even if the script feels a little phony, the cast really pulls off some of the weaker scenes in the film by sheer charisma.
It's not a perfect film, but it's an entertaining first effort from a director with a lot of promise.
