Review of Hell Baby (2013) by Kayla K — 22 Aug 2013
Hell Baby, directed by Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant of Reno 911! fame, is sloppy and inconsistent but also frequently hilarious, with plenty of funny supporting turns, the highlights including Keegan Michael Key as a sneaky neighbor and Rob Huebel and Paul Sheer as a couple of not-so-tough cops.
The plot, as it were, consists of an expectant couple (Rob Corddry and Leslie Bibb) moving into a house with a detailed history and the mother's sudden possession. While oftentimes humorous, the movie rarely draws humor from its horror surroundings to make the progression from bad to worse all that amusing; this would be a pretty routine horror film if it wasn't a comedy.
But the cast is pretty solid, and it's just funny enough to be worth a viewing.
