Review of Heavy Metal in Baghdad (2007) by Private U — 21 Dec 2008
Iraqi metal dudes Acrassicauda embody all the transgressive, rebellion oriented tropes of the subculture in ways Western bands could barely imagine- their headbanging, goatees and lyrics about Old Nick could quite easily leave them dead or in prison.
They aren't much chop as a band (having played only a handful of gigs in a half decade), and the Vice crew let the team down with some amateurish filmmaking, but this remains a sobering insight into life inside a warzone.
