Review of Haunt (2014) by Don S — 23 Sep 2017
I was pleasantly surprised by the indie supernatural horror movie. A family, coincidentally made up of the same number of children and of the same genders, moves into a house in which the previous family (all but 1) ended up dead.
The community says the house is haunted and the surviving member of the family is insane. Evan, the 18 year old son, falls for a neighborhood girl who is beaten by her drunk father nearly nightly. She begins staying over; she and Evan begin trying to contact the dead.
The spiritual antics begin... There a couple of decent jump scares, some fairly good effects for a low budget movie, and creepy atmosphere. The ending is foreshadowed, more than once, and the story holds up logically.
Could have been better, but good for what it is.
