Review of Happythankyoumoreplease (2011) by J.r. W — 05 Aug 2011
One of the best things about independent films is that it allows more independence on not only the writer, but the actors, hence the name 'independent'. This film, a Sundance Audience Choice Winner, is great. At times, this movie can get dull. But those few brief moments are made up for by an excellent script and lively acting, especially by Malin Akerman as a twenty something cancer patient looking to find someone mature. As romantic comedy-ish as it sounds, I found myself laughing so hard I cried. While it has its flaws, this is the most likable movie of the year.
B+.
