Review of Hancock (2008) by Stahl H — 18 Jun 2012
I admittedly was suprised when the movie shifted gears halfway through but just as quickly found myself immersed in an epic struggle for triumph over tragedy. I did not see this film for years because of tepid reviews from top critics who are deeply concerned that the main charachter's race and alcoholism is insufficently 'explored' and can't seem to just revel in the victory of the brooding hero and sidekicks over the forces of evil.
Nobody ever questions Batman or Spiderman when they fall of the wagon and emerge from the dark side; or is it the race thing? 4 stars + 1 star for the critics who caused me to miss this gem.
