Review of Haider (2014) by Avneesh M — 10 Oct 2014
The director-actor duo of Vishal Bhardwaj and Shahid Kapoor is responsible for one of my all time favourite Bollywood movies - Kaminey. So without a doubt, when they teamed up again, it absolutely couldn't be missed.
Haider lives up to expectations and is an incredibly well acted and directed film. Shahid Kapoor gives his career best performance and Tabu, Kay Kay are phenomenal in support.
The movie has a relatively dark tone and takes a while to get going. While the build up throughout the first half was good, it really demanded alot of patience and had me questioning what everyone loved. However, once Irrfan Khan enters, the film really comes into its own. It picks up pace and has plenty of intense sequences that stay with you.
Beautifully shot and complimented with a daunting and soulful background score - Haider is a technical marvel and a film made with alot of heart and passion. Its worth your time and money and shouldn't be missed.
