Review of Gypo (2005) by Private U — 10 May 2008
"Gypo" tells the unexpected love story of a young Czech refugee and a working-class British housewife, but more than that, the film is about intolerance and prejudice -.
Gypo is "a racist british epithet for Gypsy/Roma-Sinti people and refugees".
The film has no special effects, formulaic acting and it was filmed in ambient light, something I really liked about it. The story is told from three points of view, but it's not actually the same story again and again, but each one adds something, shows us somethig that preceded or happened after a specific situation. With the development of the different points of view, we see that nothing is actually as it originally appears. You think you already know what's going on in the end, but the movie caught you with a surprisely end.
