Review of Gun Hill Road (2011) by Danielle K — 23 Mar 2013

Filmed on my block, Gun Hill Road is a really fascinating tale of a father - just released from prison - who is out of place with his family, including a wife who has emotionally moved on, and his son (played by Harmony Santana, a brilliant and openly transgender actress in her first major role) who he learns is already transgender.

I wanted to spend more time in this film, taking in this family dynamic, and the last ten minutes of the film felt rushed and abrupt (though intentional). It's a really intriguing movie.
