Review of Griff the Invisible (2011) by Marcdoyle — 24 Aug 2011
The trailer makes the film look like another in the "Kick-Ass," "Super," "Defendor" vein, but it's very much not. It's a sweet film with a nice message about people who see the world differently and our treatment of and reaction to them.
Ryan Kwanten (from "True Blood") is solid enough in the lead role, but the real find of the movie is Maeve Dermody, his eventual love interest. She's got her own share of personal issues, but she's able to appreciate and love Griff for what he is.
But not out of pity - something about this oddities work for her in a real way. Those who like to dwell in a bit of fantasy in their every-day lives will enjoy it.
