Review of Grey Owl (1999) by S M — 02 Sep 2009
Grey Owl is one of my personal heroes. I was glad to hear that a film was going to be done about him, and was very glad to hear that Attenborough was to be at the helm. It does a decent job of envoking the spirit of Grey Owl, but it falls a little flat here and there. The real strong point is the scenery. Beautiful shots.
The ending is superb and encompasses fairly well the ideologies of Archie Grey Owl. I guess Brosnan was the initial draw (star power), but it also seems to be a point of ridicule.
In any regard, it's a decent film, but I suggest people to become familiar with the real man before watching the film.
