Review of God's Own Country (2017) by Nicholas%20 D — 19 Dec 2018
God's Own Country is a groundbreaking piece of cinema. Through its slow, thoughtful use of sensuality, Francis Lee depicts a relationship unlike any other put to screen. The use of touch in this movie may seem overdone to someone who is not thinking about how it connects to the characters's development, but O'Connor and Secareanu deliver the most poignant performances of 2017 through the progression of the way that they move throughout the movie.
O'Connor's rough, forceful movements gradually transform into sensitivity and gentleness in a way that develops the character unlike any story arc or dialogue could. The cinematography on display is stunning and complements the unbelievable human connections being perceived on screen.
I am simply blown away. 10/10. Best movie of 2017.
