Review of Glass: A Portrait of Philip in Twelve Parts (2007) by David S — 01 Oct 2009
In this documentary by Scott Hicks, I appreciated hearing about his his personal life and a little about his creative process, but was severely disappointed in how little they delve into the actual music of Philip Glass.
The second half picked up a bit, but being a fan of the music, it just seemed to skip quite a bit. Rather than watching this I recommend watching some of the pictures which he has scored over the years, my personal favorite being the Paul Schrader film "Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters".
Considering how many people tend to make Philip Glass a focus in their documentaries, chances are you'll find a better one than this out there, but it isn't a complete waster of time...
