Missed opportunity to tell a great story of love, beauty and shared humanity in an unimaginably horrible time. One that ends in the mindless tragic loss of 3 young lives. But it's squandered on a self-indulgent Mills&Boons romp where a privileged girl with every advantage in life goes slumming it with the "exotic" from the wrong side of the tracks.

Eventually costing the naive boy, doe-eyed boy his life and causing the death of 2 other young people. All so that the girl can proclaim in the end that she discovered love can be "magical" and she hopes it happens again.

How nice that it only takes the loss of 3 lives and broken families for her to feel optimistic about the " magic of love". Cliched in the manner of Barbara Cartland romance pulp, set against an inconsequential backdrop of a sanitised version of what Apartheid must have been.
