Review of Frayed (2007) by Jason H — 27 Aug 2009
What starts out as a simple retelling of John Carpenter's Halloween slowly takes on a life of its own in this well-made horror film from first-time directors Norbert Caoili and Rob Portmann. Key to the movie's success is a plot twist that most viewers will likely figure out early on, but the film makers have enough skill to make that twist work for most of the running time.
And there are enough thrills along and way to keep any veteran horror fan on the edge of his or her seat at times. Sadly, Caoili and Portmann get a bit twist happy, and there is a last-minute turn that is not as successful as the first.
