Review of Fish Tank (2009) by Gokul P — 09 Jun 2010
I loved this film.
Fish Tank is a look into the working class world of Essex. Its a brutal, harsh look into the somewhat hopeless life of would be dancer Mia and her tempestuous relationship with her mother and sister.
I really enjoyed watching fish tank, although at times it was pretty difficult to watch I thought that overall it was an absolute triumph.
The ending is difficult, the middle is hard and the start is tough. There are no frilly flowers in this one folks. From potential rape to underage sex to child abduction and more this film deals with the toughest subjects in a calm manner.
I would love to see more real life films like this especially from Essex, my homeland. It was good to see on film although they didnt exactly shoot the nicest parts. Tilbury for example...
More of the same please.
5 stars!
