Review of Everything Beautiful Is Far Away (2017) by Karin K — 15 Dec 2017
There are sci_fi elements in the story, and indeed it appears set in a sci-fi framework but, au contraire, this is a really just about a disconnected young man who finds his significant other and so is disconnected from disconnection, no more, no less.
It ascribes to that proverbial bit of thinking that "if only I could find a mate, all my problems would be solved." If only the relationship explored could've shown what he got in exchange for giving up his singular video game, other than the woman choosing him too.
Slow going for a bit set in a desert. The actors are competent, only lacking material with which to work.
