Review of Every Little Step (2008) by Katie B — 16 Nov 2009
Perhaps I was very lucky that I got to see the actual Broadway revival a couple of years back, so this fun film documenting the ambitious audition process is especially poignant. It also serves as a wonderful tribute to the original groundbreaking musical from its inception, appropriately rooted in, but what else, auditions, and pays homage to its visionary creator Michael Bennett.
While it's not overly exciting as it ought to be, it is certainly involving. The talented men and women, of all ages, races and sizes, do their best to be The Ones among many just to find themselves paying respect to those who end up pivoting as a backdrop to their featured star.
This is their moment and EVERY LITTLE STEP brings them even closer to us.
