Review of Everlasting Moments (2008) by Jeremy R — 05 Apr 2009
A film so subtle in its power that once the end credits started rolling I quietly whispered "wow" to myself. It's a story that's been done thousands of times (neglected/beaten wife takes charge of her life with the help of a kind man who is secretly besotted with her), but in Troell's hands it is utterly engrossing.
Maria Heiskanen and Mikael Persbrandt give excellent performances, and while the film gives off a "been there, done that' mentality, it has enough variations and involving moments to help it rise above its predecessors.
