Becoming a dragonrider was not what Eragon planned for his life. But when finding the last dragon egg and having it hatch, his plans are changed forever as the egg will only hatch when it comes into the hands of it's one and only rider.
But the king who was trying to force the dragon to hatch would rather see the last dragon dead than with another rider.
