Review of EMR (2004) by Trinity C — 18 Jun 2007
The film tries to be a complex psychological thriller, but ends up becoming redundant and uninteresting instead. The main character repeatedly goes back and forth between place and time which causes a disorienting effect, but the story is never progressed forward.
As a result, the film becomes dragged out, tiring, and loses our interest before the big revelation. This is a shame, as the key to the mystery, though seen many times in other psycho-thrillers, is interesting and hard to predict.
Still, the twist itself is not innovative or original, thus making the trudge through the rest of the film not worth the time investment. It tries hard, it really does, and something must be said of its earnestness, but the film simply doesn't come off right.
