Review of Emperor (2012) by Flora A — 21 Mar 2013
This movie is a MUST SEE. It is a very good dramatization of one of the finest chapters in American history in the last 80 years. This is a model to look back to. Historically accurate, except that maybe we didn't really promise the emperor that he would be spared if Japan surrendered.
A love story is thrown in as flashbacks, but it made the Japanese familiarity of MacArthur's delegate believable. Despite MacArthur's bluster, he comes off as having had an admirable commitment to a viable Japanese future.
