Review of Elvis & Anabelle (2007) by Vivian L — 30 Dec 2009
A cute love story reminiscent of 'The Notebook' but with slightly more melancholy starts. The whole "supernatural" thing about the film was off-putting and unnecessary. I think the mortician part of the story was interesting, but maybe having her wake up from the dead was a little much.
It was difficult imagining Blake Lively not as Serena van der Woodsen, and although she tries well to pull off a Southern belle charm, she seems too much like a character actor. Also Joe Mantegna was probably not the best humpback dad for the part.
Otherwise, Max Minghella was great, but his character should've taken half of the dialogue Lively had.
