Review of El Colombian Dream (2005) by Fredy O — 18 Oct 2008
Felipe Aljure is one of the few, or perhaps the only, filmmaker in Colombia that I should call an 'auteur' because of his distinctive style. However, this man is way too ostentatious and his style, as unique and flashy as it is, is just vulgar, kitsch and even anger inducing.
Despite all its flaws, the movie is bold and has some hilarious moments. in the final analysis, it was a wasted opportunity to show the world the autoparody and the funny side of pushers, druggies, et cetera, as some foreign films have done before.
