Review of Edge of Seventeen (1999) by Espen G — 08 Jun 2008
A great coming of age/out film, very true to the genre and well acted. Chris Stafford is very believable as a young teenager on the brink of self discovery, Stephanie McVay is great as the mother and Tina Holmes is at her best in this film, as she portrays the scorned best friend in love.
The 80s look and feel is surprisingly well done, the story struts along the common corners of this genre and lands safely on its feet as Eric (Stafford) finally feels at home in his own skin.
All in all a very sweet film.
