Review of Eat That Question: Frank Zappa in His Own Words (2016) by David H — 20 Aug 2016
Eat that Question reminds us of what a genius we lost when prostate cancer claimed Frank Zappa nearly 25 years ago. Never bowing to convention, Zappa created incredibly complex musical compositions ranging from doo-wop to classical jazz, hand writing sheet music for entire orchestras while directing a '60's era classic film.
Whether he was demonstrating to comedian Steve Allen how to make music with 2 bicycles or testifying before congress on the dangers of suppression of free speech, Zappa was never anything but iconoclastic.
Today's musicians could learn a lot about being honest and true to your musical vision by following Zappa's footsteps.
