Review of Easier with Practice (2009) by Erik P — 20 May 2010
Comes off as a cheap knock-off of something like American Splendor, Adaptation, or Synecdoche, New York. Unfortunately. Despite an interesting setup, which Charlie Kaufman or maybe Todd Solondz could have turned into a great film, this film doesn't get easier or more enjoyable to watch as it goes along.
The ending helps rescue it a little, but not enough to make up for a very hollow, long period after the beginning. Critical complements to the lead actor (Geraghty) aside, he really comes off more like a retard or trailer-park moron than a shy, lonely, socially awkward writer.
