Review of Dus Kahaniyaan (2007) by Melissa T — 24 Dec 2007
This is strictly for the new age desi who gets bored easily. A collection of 10/12-minute long stories with ends that at times leave you baffled. What more can a movie buff ask for?! Sure, the movie has its low points, like "Sex on the Beach" -- a shameless copy of some C Hollywood horror flick or the supermushy DDLJ-inspired "Lovedale".
But Shabana Azmi as an orthodox Tamil Hindu woman forced to share a plate of rice with a bearded Naseeruddin Shah or a jaded middle-aged Amrita Singh rediscovering her youth at the cost of her to-be-married daughter are mesmerizing.
