Review of Duffy (1968) by Cyril S — 05 Sep 2018
Do you like "caper" films - the ones that don't take themselves so seriously - it's only a movie right? Do you want to see James Coburn at the height of his "coolness" - yes cooler than Flint.
Do you want to see Susannah York at her loveliest? Doy ou want to see exotic locals like the south of Spain and Morocco and the Mediterranean at it's absolute deep blue? Throw in a fun performance by James Mason, a theme sung by Lou Rawls and a beating soundtrack that was greatly overlooked. There were similar films like this in this era, Fathom with Raquel Welch come to mind but the writing and performances in Duffy to me have it as one of the best pictures ever made.
