Downtown 81 is the kind of movie where fiction meets documentary. it showcases some of the better art punk/no wave bands from this creative moment in New York's history, and the well known graffiti artist jean michel basquiat.
with a weak plot as the backbone, most will find Downtown 81 dull. others will find themselves fascinated by the NYC art culture depicted in the film.
