Review of Domino (2005) by Matt B — 23 Feb 2009
Domino's amped up, cocaine fueled, seizure inducing style isn't for everyone, but it by no means is a fault of the movie. The style perfectly compliments the subject matter. It's a savage critique on America's obsession with "reality" as it's portrayed on television.
Domino's story is supposed to be heavily stylized and ridiculous at times as it's a reflection of America's escapist hyper-reality. In the context of the film, it's not presented as reality either.
It's a story, told to Lucy Liu's character. The opening titles say it all: "Based on a true story... Kind of.".
