Review of Django (2017) by Thaddeus A — 12 Feb 2018
I thought the movie wonderful. If you are looking for a "fast-paced nasty Nazi overcome by Art and the power of love, Movie" this isn't it --- it's something else, and something better.
Every character is played straight, with depth and nuance, and the personal ambiguities of Django as he comes to terms with his situation feels real. I came away more curious about Romani culture and even more fond of his music, if that could be possible.
I'll be getting the DVD when it comes out.
