Review of Dead Hooker in a Trunk (2009) by Al M — 22 Feb 2013
From the Soska twins, the writer-director-actor duo who recently released American Mary, Dead Hooker in a Trunk is grimy, low-budget fun that hearkens back to the grindhouse fare of the late 70s and early 80s.
The sisters in the film discover the eponymous corpse in their trunk and embark upon a bloody adventure that will include love, murder, torture, and dismemberment. Funny, stylish, and twisted, Dead Hooker in a Trunk is an original horror vision that doesn't quite achieve true greatness because there is nothing beneath the surface, but it presages the more interesting endeavor Soskas made with American Mary.
