I just saw Damascus Cover and thoroughly enjoyed it. This is not your "Mission Impossible" spy story with great chase sequences and heavy action. It is more of a throwback to the film noir approach to the international intelligence community, focusing on Israel and Syria.

It is anything but glamorous - no martinis shaken or stirred, but whiskey straight up and lots of twists and turns. RHys Meyers acquits himself admirably and, though his part is small, it was wonderful to see John Hurt as Mossad puppet master Mikki.

I would have liked it to be longer with more detail taken from the book, but it is a thinking man's spy film well worth the price of a ticket.
