Focuses too much on the comedy (which, incidentally, isn't as funny as in the Depardieu film), and, in the process, misses the poignancy at the heart of the play (which the Depardieu film gets beautifully).
Still, Ferrer is good at what he's doing. But, yeah, you guessed it. Depardieu is better.
