Review of Cyclo (1995) by Ian I — 29 May 2007
An absolutely astounding sophomore film from Anh Hung Tran. In terms of genre, it's a gangster film, but there isn't really anything else to compare it to. Exquisitely filmed and downright disturbing, Cyclo is about a brother and sister who, unbeknownst to each other, begin working for the same crime boss in order to support their starving family.
The colorful and cacophonic squalor of Ho Chi Min City is best witnessed on a big screen. Oh, and the film score is amazing as well. I simply Cannot reccomend this film any higher.
