Review of Crossfire (1947) by Robert C — 27 May 2012
It starts off as an ordinary film noir with a small budget, but as it goes along the plot and dialogue's brilliance shines through. Some of my favorite exchanges are between George Cooper and Gloria Grahame and Jacqueline White, but the greatest monologue goes for the detective when he realizes who the murderer is as it dawns on him that the murders were based on hate.
Interesting sidenote: the movie was based on a novel about a man who was beaten to death for being gay, but since that theme was too radical for Hollywood censors they made the victim a Jew instead.
