Review of Control (2013) by Callum H — 07 Jul 2009
Well, what can I say. Not an all star cast but it goes to show that unknowns can show the overpaid celebs what it is to give a truely great performance (hey Orlando Bloom). Sam Riley gives a phenominal performance as the enigmatic, epilectic and troubled singer of cult indie band Joy Division who paved the way for creative new music above the Whams of the time.
Samantha Mortans performance of Deborah Curtis was just as amazing as Sams and they both draw you into their troubled world. You'll never see a biopic like this again, one of the best films i've ever seen.
I don't wanna give too much away, but all you need to know is cinematograhy this good doesn't come about all the time, so enjoy.
