Review of Connected (2008) by Jon B — 14 Oct 2008
Not the most stunning film, and I haven't seen the original, but this one has some great scenes (including an excellently hilarious car chase and another classic in a mobile phone service center), it's entertaining, and I've got to rep my man Louis Koo.
But let me just rant for a moment about something that annoys me in recent HK cinema. Okay, great, you've cast a mainland actress and a bunch of HK actors. So why do people have complicated conversations in the movies with one side speaking Cantonese and the other side speaking Putonghua? It doesn't make any sense, it's completely unrealistic, and it's a marketing move to cater to the mainland through and through.
Can't you find enough local talent and then just re-dub the film, HK industry? Cripes.
