Review of Compulsion (2013) by Kenny O — 02 Sep 2013
At first, I was thinking this was going to be a dud. Thankfully, this movie went from a typical slasher-esque feel to a bizarre thriller with food being used as the weapon. Not in a violent way, mind you, but in a sly, yet disturbing way.
I also never would have thought that a seductive cook could be so twisted and evil. The acting was pretty good. The truth is that if Heather Graham wasn't cast as the lead, everything would have suffered.
She was able to bring the charm of a somewhat 1950's-esque era housewife and completely turn the type on its head. While it is hard to define what this movie was trying to say, the final moments are more or less worth it.
Honestly, I don't think I will look at food the same way again. Definitely worth the rent.
