Review of Common (2014) by Brett B — 02 May 2015
I thought this was a simple movie, but powerful all the same. While it was about a British law called Joint Enterprise that allows the court to intimidate young folks by convicting them as a group instead of for individual crime. This story about a young man facing life for driving friends to pick up a pizza is unaware that a murder took place and struggles to do what's right for everyone.
I found myself thinking that.
I've never had a lot of friends because I have always been careful of group think and the possibility of getting into some trouble because of someone elses behavior. I've been VERY careful who I socialize with and call friends, knowing some who call themselves my friend are not and would do harm out of stupidity. When I was in the 5th grade I was look out for friends shoplifting and was an accessory, so I guess I learned my lesson.
